Life or Something like it...

"There was a merchant in Bagdad who sent his servant to market to buy provisions and in a little while the servant came back, white and trembling, and said, Master, just now when I was in the market-place I was jostled by a woman in the crowd and when I turned I saw it was death that jostled me. She looked at me and made a threatening gesture; now, lend me your horse, and I will ride away from this city and avoid my fate. I will go to Samarra and there death will not find me. The merchant lent him his horse, and the servant mounted it, and he dug his spurs in its flanks and as fast as the horse could gallop he went. Then the merchant went down to the market-place and he saw me standing in the crowd and he came to me and said, Why did you make a threatening gesture to my servant when you saw him this morning? That was not a threatening gesture, I said, it was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Bagdad, for I had an appointment with him tonight in Samarra."

First love and then life! Think what you may, but its the fraility of life that has literally pushed me to write this blog. I did talk about the unexpectedness of life in my last blog as this thought had been brewing in my mind for quite sometime. Never would have I thought that I would be addressing the issue so soon. But then that is life!

Just a month back, on 24th September 2004, to be exact, I met with an accident. Coming back from my job treat my mind was restless on a trifling issue. I don't know what bit me but I decided to drive as fast as I could. It had drizzled and the roads were a little wet. But I was enjoying myself, playing hide and seek with the eternal truth. And suddenly it happened. On the tortuos flyover near Masjid, the bike slipped on the divider. I, in a frenzy, pushed the breaks, causing the wheels to get jammed. The bike got toppled and we (Ankush and I) were on the road skidding at speed close to 80 Kmph. Ankush pushed me off the bike and I rolled on the road for couple of feet while the bike came to rest. I don't know what had happened in those 15 secs, but one thing am very sure of is - I was closest to God then. I didn't even realise the gravity of the event, got up, checked my minor bruises, checked with Ankush, he too was not hurt. And I LAUGHED!!! I cannot believe how could I do that. Dasa, Harki, Chhotuu and other must have thought that I had got hit on my head and now that I ponder upon it, I couldn'thave agreed more with them! Ankush insisted on driving from there but I took the bike back from him near Dadar and drove it back to insti.

Now, exactly a month later, similar but much graver incident has brought all those memories back. In all of my interviews, I was asked what am I going to do 5 years hence. And I always had a fitting reply for such inquiries. Now that I think of it, I cannot but smile on such a farce question. How can you plan of 5 years down the lane when you don't know of things 5 sec from now! You may chalk out a foolproof plan to be the king of the world, but do you know whether you would survive till then!

Death .. Death is the ultimate truth. I see Death as God. Its in him we find solace, the eternal peace. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that is beyond its reach. Nothing has stood in its way since time began. Everyone is equal in his court, a rich is treated with same honour as a poor. It is everywhere. You may try and disprove its existence but it has its ways to mark his presence. It is with you, only just beyond your reach. Everyone is striving to touch him. Everyone knows one day he/she would reach him, yet is afraid of him. And above all, its when you need anyone the most that he would come and give his hands to give you rest from your pains! Who can have more powers than this but GOD?

I don't know whether there is life after death but then life and death are like two mates who just cannot be apart. So if one follows the other, I just won't be surprised. The only thing is I am not interested now to find it out! All I can say is I love life and I do it now even more!

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

Life can be "Qrio"us!

Life is full of unexpected turns! Sometime big, sometime small. In the evening, bogged down by 8 hours of excruciating lectures, I was having my tiffin in peace. When Chhotuu calls up and asks for bike. He informed me that Sony is showcasing there technology at Hotel Leela Palace and their humanoid "Qrio" would be the star attraction. Till that instant had never thought about checking out the humanoid but tagged along with Chhotuu thinking it would be a worthwhile experience. I was not to be proved wrong!

The ambience of the Banquet Hall, where the showcase took place, was awesome. The area was divided in 15 different zones and each zone had its own speaciality. From Wega Home theatre to Xplod Car music systems to Vaio Computer Systems. All the gadgets were absolutely fantastic. The place was a paradise for shopaholics! We had to wait a lot for the "Icing on the cake" as the compere preferred to call the corporate ambassador of Sony, but the show proved to be worth the wait. The humanoid was cute, his dance sexy, and antiques amazing. Sony has worked really hard for there humanoid project and there efforts are visible to one and all.The ride back to insti, though, was painful as all the streets were jammed. By the time we were back, our faces must have been covered by atleast an inch of soot!

The whole experience made me think about the unexpected nature of life! You never know whats going to happen the very next second. But then this is
maybe the best part of Life, ain't it? So enjoy!!

The best things in life are unexpected - because there were no expectations.

How much can a man be dumb? Is there any scale for dumbness? Well whatever it may be, today I met a chap on the chat who should be awarded full for his "Dumbness"! I am really sorry for using love in a general sense but I tried really hard to convince this fella that I am not the person he's looking for. He was simply not ready to listen!!

Love is all around me ......

"Whenever I get gloomy with the stage of the world, I think about the arrival stage at the Heathrow airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed - but I don't see that - seems to me that love is everywhere. Often is not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there. Fathers and sons, mothers and daughthers, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, oldfriends ....When the planes hit the twin towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board where messages of hate or revenge. They were all all messages of love. If you look for it, I have got a sneaky feeling, you will find that love actually!!"
- Opening lines in the Richard Curtis's masterpiece "Love Actually"

Last couple of days I had been meditating a lot on this topic and thought this was the right time to put it up for a discussion! So here it goes!

What is "LOVE"? .. To me its something holy. Something which is as great as life itself. Something which takes time to grow and you would never know that it has been there. Its not something that you can deny and not something that happens just overnight. They say, "People fall in love"! To me you can never fall in love as it is something that elevates you! They say "Love is blind", but how can it be for it opens your eyes! But they also say, "Love forgives all" and that "Love lasts"!

Is the taken-for-granted feeling with friends, the unending questions of girlfriends, the wheedles with mom and dad, the fights with bro, the tirades of granma, the pranks on my sis, the pampering of my aunts, love? If not love whats it? Affection, maybe! But how is affection different from love? -- I don't know!

People around me have been falling in and out of love, but is that love at the first place?! Or is it simply the attraction you feel for someone you are close to. How do you know you are in love? Or should you even care to know it? Is there anything like love-at-first-sight!? But how can there be such a thing for you need to know your love first! And should you try to fall in love? But how can you for "Love happens"! The whole funda is just too complex to its core, and they say "Love is simple!".. Haaaah! maybe I am too simple to get the complexity of this four lettered word! Maybe I should give time teach me the lessons of love, or maybe I should wait till "Love strikes"! I think I'll "Just sit back and relax. Love will just happen!".

I don't know what enthused me to write this blog! But it was something that was surging in me for quite sometime and I thought that blog was the best place to express them. The context of the blog have been people around me, some in my family, some in my close friend circle, and my life as I see it!

"Don't say you love somebody and then change your mind ... Love isn't like picking what movie you want to watch."

"THE" Weekend!

18 hours of drive and 27 hours of pure fun n frolick with 3 hrs of sleep!.. Boy! It was a weekend to remember!!

It all started when Chhotuu messaged me on friday night saying that he would be going for a bike ride to Lonavala and would I be interested. Now the hedonist that I am, was all eager for the ride. He asked me to be ready by 5 o clock in the morning. Sharp @ 5 he calls me and informs that a Qualis has been booked and 9 of us would be heading to Kashid and Murhud beach! What more could I ask for and with 50 bucks in my pocket any outing would have been fantastic.

We started for the excursion at 7 o'clock and reached our first destination 5 hrs later. Murhud fort was awsome! The engineering that would have been required to put up such a magnificient structure right in the middle of the sea must have been huge. After exploring the fort, it was surfing time! From Murhud we headed to Kashid beach. An excellent beach with low water hieght, ideal for swimming and water sports. Played football and dodgeball till we were totally wreck. We packed up from the beach at 6 and visited Vikram Vinayak Temple, constructed by the Aditya Birla Group. An elegant temple with very tranquil surroundings. It was already 11 by the time we were back in the institute.

Back in my room, I got a message from my friend and thus the plan for Pune was made! Left for pune early in the morning. The day was fun, connecting and chatting with Debs and Suravi. It was my first visit to Pune alone and I loved it. When I was in Crossword with Suravi, Gajju's threatening call came that I should be in his treat by 10 o'clock or else I would be responsible for the consequences! It was then that I figured out it was time to pack up from there.

At exact 10 o'clock I entered Tian banquet hall and the party never remained the same! It was dance dance and more dance. The dj was superb and the dancers too. Saw Samrat bhai dancing his breath out for the first time. I too was in the form and danced till I was down by nausea! Everyone was soo happy! The party ended up at 2 in the morning, and I was completely drained out. Snpaz of our freak outs would soon be uploaded on my webpage, keep visiting the site.

Next day was a long dream as I slept out half of it and am still dozing now. I hope the hangover would be out by tomorrow!

As I have always said. Time Flies! "THE" Weekend has passed but its memories will live!

Another Day In Paradise!

So now that I'm back in action, question is what should I write about. Now to help me out of this dilemma, someone suggested "exploits with fairer sex cud be a good start" ... Aah! Now thats one topic I like a lot, and why shouldn't I?;) .. But you'll have to wait a li'l for more on that. Right now am in the mood of telling you about my today's exploit.

Hmm.. On the whole today was one of the better days.. Vamsi got a job, Chhotuu nearly has finalised our plans of bike ride to Lonavala, I took 3 wickets and gave 6 runs in 3 overs, we won the match with 2 wickets and 3 balls in hand making 56 runs in 6 over:) !! The lopside is that today I got my midsem marks, but then even moon has scars. This li'l hitch of the day is forgiven.

Today I did a little something more. Actually it started yesterday when Ghazaa, Vardan and I were discussing about
cryptography. I told them about a story I had read long back, called "The Gold Bug" written by the great American writer and poet Edgar Allan Poe. Vardan and Ghazaa cracked the replacement cipher in the story and thus started our tryst with solving such ciphers. Today Ghazaa told me that there is an excellent cryptic code in Sir Arthur Conan Doyles "The Adventure of Dancing Men". I have just started reading the story and would recommend for one and all!
Enthused by such brain racking adventures, I landed up in one of the puzzles community on orkut. There I found this lovely cryptographic puzzle. You too try it out!
The Math teacher Leandro Cardish was found dead this afternoon in his classroom. With all he had of strenght, he drew this
symbol on the board, before his death.

His students this morning were:
Skye Makua
Del Katterjohn
Rachell Credo
Juan Ratio
Madalyn Pakonen
Letty Civcci
One of them is the murderer, because of his low grades.

Discover: Who killed him and what was the weapon. The symbol is the tip for both.

Another attempt to wake up the sleeping writer in me! ...

The days in IIT are numbered now, and I get senti about it every now and then thinking about it. People say groups change, friends change, interests change and life moves on. But why should everything change?!
Can't things remain a li'l like they are now. I had the best gang in my school times. 4 year hence only few of them are in touch. But the thing is all of them have changed. I reckon that change is one that drives our life, but why change in good things?! I believe friends are forever and I hope this would reamain true with the friends that I have made in my 4 years of stay at IIT.

By the way, read through the two stories posted on Oct 7th and Oct 14th, on http://agarwaladitya.blogspot.com .. Real gems! ..

Till next .. Khudahafiz!
